What is the Citrix Desktop and how do I use it?
The Citrix Desktop is a virtual desktop, which allows you to connect to various network heavy applications such as Visual or Crystal Reports. When launched, you will have a full desktop and the appearance that you are on your own device. You will be connected directly into the Kapco network and the aforementioned applications will run much smoother and quicker. To engage the Citrix Desktop, you will need to be connected to the VPN prior.
** NOTE ** The Citrix Desktop is only available on laptops – NOT desktops.
1. Launch the Citrix Desktop from the icon on your desktop.*
* If you do not have a “Kapco Citrix” icon on your desktop, you can open up your browser and point it to the following URL: https://storefront.kapcoinc.com
2. When you launch the page, you will be prompted to enter your credentials. Use your standard username and password, not your email address or anything else.
3. Click Log On.
4. When signed in you will have an icon available to click on called Desktop – click it.
5. You will see a couple screens show up that state it is connecting.
6. Eventually you will be connected to your Citrix Desktop and can use it like you were working on your own laptop.
7. Finally, when you are done with your session, you will want to Sign Out and not just Disconnect. You can complete this by performing the following.
- Click on the Start Menu
- You will see a few icons on the bottom left side of the start menu – find the one that looks like a person and click on it.
- A menu comes up and you can click on Sign Out.
